My first day stepping into the school of Mestre Joao Grande was an enriching experience. The conversations had this evening are humbling and I am confident the young and older capoeiristas shared great wisdom with one another. It is very important to sing and offer axe for Pastinha!
Mestre João Grande shared with us today to avoid playing while teaching class because the playful teacher risks losing respect. He says when one does good, it spreads; when one does bad, it spreads also, but faster. Mestre teaches us to possess a mind, a vision beyond the scope of just ourselves–overcome your ego.
Chicago teaches class at Joao Grande’s and supports his mestre.
